Happy New Year

I hate new year. Always have done, since being a teenager. Was never the happiest teenager anyways (show me one that is!) but for some reason, since then, the new year has always depressed me. Time to look back and reflect on all the shit and bad stuff that has happened this year - although this year wasn't really that bad. Quite nice compared with some in my recent past. Come midnight last night I had just got into bed. Thought that was it. New year, so what? Come this morning the usual arguments seem all blown out of proportion. I hate new year! Worse - I'm sure it's nothing really to do with the new year - more a frame of mind I have a habbit of getting into this time of year.

Don't have any resolutions. They never stick, so I don't see the point. You can make life changing decisions any time you like. Ok, so for most people new year can mean new start (but you can have a new start anytime you like, too). That's one of the nicest things about being a teacher, actually - the new year - we get two of them. One in January, and one in September. Well, 3 if you count the tax year too - but I hate that one too - all that money earned, all that tax paid!

I do have things I'd like to do this year, though, but I don't think that's the same as having a new year's resolution. I'd like to visit Africa again (ticket bought) but this time spend more time really living it and less time moping about missing home. I'd like to get my PGDip done and handed in this year (after spending 2 years nearly, trying to do one, I'm starting fresh). Other than that I have other goals, but not sure I can do all of them this year. Also would like to try again for AST status (you get to visit other schools every week, and do what you love doing best in your favourite subject - and you get more money for it!) but not sure if that's doable this year. I don't think any of those are really new year's resolutions though - more like meduim / long term goals.

Heh - look at that - two of them are work related - see I said I had no life!

holidaze = dull daze

Well, not all of them, I guess, but this one certainly is.

My summer holiday this year has turned into a rush of getting things done that I've not had time to do during the year. Now, sad to say, it's nearly over, and I have my planning to do. Back to the computer.

What've I done this holiday? Ummmmm.....

Well I've been to the garage, and spent nearly £100 getting the car fixed. (I love my car - probably more about that later). Whilst waiting for that I spent lots of money in the shops.

I installed ubuntu on my spare puter - been meaning to do that for years. It's a learning curve, but going well.

Other than that I've not done too much. Well, not lots that I'm going to say on here. I made that mistake on an msn blog - wrote too much about my life, then got paranoid every 5 minutes that someone somewhere would recognise me, hence the starting afresh. Well, we'll see how it lasts. Never had much time to blog on my last blog, so probably won't do much here either.
